Of Races and Celebrations

October is the Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I know October is going to end, but I started on this blog only in late October and it's never too late to add this in! 31st is the last day of the month, so wear Pink on the 31st of October yeah! :)

"Breast Cancer is the second most common type of cancer, after lung cancer. Because the breast is composed of identical tissues for both sexes, it can occur in men too. But of course, the occurrence rate in men is low compared to women (~10ox more in women).

Worldwide, breast cancer is by far the most common cancer amongst women, with an incidence rate more than twice that of colorectal cancer and cervical cancer and about three times that of lung cancer. However breast cancer mortality worldwide is just 25% greater than that of lung cancer in women. "

Diwali was great! It was fun in a strange way. I don't feel like elaborating.
But anyway, the funniest part was when you call people to wish them..

An typical conversation goes like this:

Me: Hello!! Happy Diwali!!
Cousin/Aunt: Thank you, wish you the same! How many dresses did you get??

Then, it would continue like this:

Aunt: Do you know the gold prices are finally going down? Ask your mother to go stock up on the gold!

I love it!

For the record, I only got 1 set of clothes this time around, and no gold. Lol. One of my aunts got herself 12 saris and my cousin, 7 sets of clothes. Goodness gracious me.

Indians are OBSESSED with two things in life: Clothes and Gold. Gold is their number one investment. As I am typing this, my mum is actually contemplating buying gold bars, as a form of investment. Oh and how could I forget, for my marriage.
Seriously! The amount of gold in India is enough to save the country from any economic crisis. Come to think of it, I think it might actually save the world too.
