Initially, when I observed some Susan Boyle video rising up on youtube, I didn't really pay much attention to it. From the screen capture, I decided that it was one of those videos mocking people on talent shows. I am completely against such mockery and hence, I was determined not to watch it. But after repeatedly seeing it on my channel, my curiosity got the better of me...

and it was AMAZING!! I became completely SPELLBOUND by her incredible voice and singing capacity! It was really really outstanding!
I am the type who gets really involved when I hear good singing, and so I was already completely moved by her awesomeness. Then I watched her express her victory when simon said "...3 yes-es", and I just started tearing!
Oh how much emphasis we place on outward appearances... when it completely does not matter! Such attitudes are both disturbing and disgusting, but I am glad we have people like her. There ought to be more Susan Boyles, who will Pop-thebloodybiggest-Pop that little balloon we live in.
I can't embed the video into this post for some strange reason, but here is the link!
> Suawesomeness! <
Do watch it. She will make your day! :)
Till next time,

And this is what she looks like now. She looks really good!
But apart from that, I am quite sad really. I liked her for what she was - authentic and against the conventional standards of femininity. It was really cool that she went there, and did her thing, and did it fabulously in her own way, without caring about others' opinions. I admire people like her, with this inherent and flawless confidence.
Because, I lack it so and I always strive to keep up with the conventional standards. I bet you just raised your eyebrows. But, do NOT say anything. It's not nice to tell people that they have obviously failed in this pursuit. Ha ha.
Anyway, yeah I was a bit disappointed, but hey, considering the paradox that I just made apparent, it'd be selfish for me to expect her to be the same woman. Anyhow, she still has that truckloads of talent. And competition. Check out Shaheen Jafergholi! Zomg.

4 whispers:
ohh no wonder got backache dont want to go to school and study todayy ahhhhhh
ahahah the word verification thing is hukersp Hookers PEE!!
I loled at the second picture just because of its unexpectedness. Boyle goodness! But meh, I don't know why I'm not as swept up as I should be by this great chance to rant about appearances, society and subsequently femininity (women are often defined by their appearances more than men). I cried like a baby during her performance though. Fantine ftw.
@ kari: haha WHAT? I don't understand your comment at all! :S
@ zj: haha... i think arguing about societal emphasis on appearance, esp towards women, would be like chasing our own tails, because we are in it too deep to make much sense of it..
But oh well.
Anyway, yes fantine! I love her, almost as much as I love Eponine!
Btw, you should listen to Ruthie Henshall's version of I have a dream. I think it's the best one around! :)
